First, it’s an honor to be a part of an organization that for 37 years has continued to champion the causes of women, by providing support and services to increase the number of women elected and appointed to serve in public office.
As many of you probably know, MNWPC has supported and endorsed women such as U.S. Congressional Representative, Betty McCollum, who in 2000 became Minnesota’s second woman to be elected to Federal office. MNWPC also endorsed MN State Representative Neva Walker, who in 2004 became Minnesota’s first African American woman elected to the House of Representatives.
I plan to continue to carry out this exceptional work and further strengthen the organization’s mission. We will continue to provide political/government education and outreach through Minnesota Women’s Educational Council, which was established in 1978 as a sister organization of the MNWPC.
We will also continue to screen and endorse women for office through our Political Action Committee (PAC). Our mission will remain the same—“dedicated to increasing the number of women in elected and appointed office by identifying, recruiting, training and supporting pro-choice women candidates.”
I have a longstanding commitment and investment in the success of women being
elected to serve in public office. In 2006, I ran for public office and from that experience I know first hand the importance of supporting women who have this desire.
I’m currently Chair of Senate District 58 and also serve as an Election Judge. I have a double Masters in Public Administration and Nonprofit Management. I have ten plus years of experience working in both the nonprofit and government sectors.
In my capacity as Executive Director, my duties include ensuring the strength of
MNWPC operations so that it can continue to grow and serve woman who are interested in becoming more involved in politics whether it be just a voice or being elected.
I look forward to the opportunity in working with all of you!
